Delivering person centred care for older patients
What is person-centred care? Why does it matter? Why is it harder in geriatric medicine? In this talk I will explore how ageism may affect our history taking, how the diseases of ‘old age’ are starting to change and why frailty scoring must be the start not the end point of an assessment. With some tips on how to improve our skills, I hope to re-motivate us as physicians to keep the patient at the centre of decision making about their care.
