Dr Stuart Bloom

Stuart Bloom graduated in Medicine in 1984 after training at Oxford and St Thomas Hospital. He worked as a junior Doctor in London, Oxford and Liverpool and did his doctorate on adhesion molecules in Inflammatory bowel disease at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford. He was appointed consultant gastroenterologist at University College London Hospitals in 1996. He was chair of the IBD section of the British Society of Gastroenterology from 2006-2009 and is National Specialty Lead for Gastroenterology at the NIHR Comprehensive Clinical Research Network (NIHR-CCRN) from 2008-2013. He is currently chair of the UK IBD registry. Research Interests include clinical trials in IBD and the role of Innate immunity in the pathogenesis of Intestinal Inflammation.
