Stephen is an internationally recognised scientist with a long research career in the development of cell and gene-based therapies for a multitude of disease entities. Stephen received his PhD in Pathology (Neurosciences) in 1992 from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and post-doctoral training at USCD on neural stem cells, and cellular transplantation strategies in the damaged nervous system. He was appointed a Lecturer in Biomolecular Sciences at King's College London in 1998 was the Director of the Stem Cell Biology Laboratory at King’s from 2002 until 2009. Stephen was appointed the Global Director for Research and Development for Cell Technologies at GE Healthcare in 2009. In 2013, Stephen was appointed Chief Scientist for GE Healthcare Life Sciences. Since 2015, Stephen has been the Director of SLM Blue Skies Innovations Ltd, as he serves as a paid consultant/advisor to several US and EU biotech and engineering companies in the application of future healthcare technologies.
