Dr Adam Chesters
Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine, Cambridge University Hospitals
Dr Chesters is a consultant emergency and pre-hospital care physician with more than 10 years’ experience in the NHS across the UK. He qualified with honours from the University of Leicester. He is involved in helicopter emergency medical service work for three air ambulances and has worked with a dedicated paediatric retrieval team. He is a Fellow in Immediate Medical Care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. He has an interest in teaching and training, in major incident planning and response, and in the production of high quality academic work and research. He has lectured at national and international conferences, has published a number of papers, and has a particular research interest in pre-hospital emergency anaesthesia and the operational and clinical safety of helicopter emergency medical services. He is currently an associate lecturer at the University of Cambridge, Lead Clinician for the University of Cambridge Pre-Hospital Care Programme, a consultant in pre-hospital care for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, and a locum consultant in emergency medicine at East and North Herts NHS Trust. He is a consultant in emergency medicine and major trauma at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the leading major trauma centres in the UK, and is on call to provide tactical medical advice to the London Ambulance Service in the event of a major incident.
