Despite breakthrough changes in the medical management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), many patients will undergo at least one surgical procedure during their lifetimes. Furthermore, some presentations of this condition will present as complications in the Acute Take, and many of them will require close liaison with the Surgical Team or straightforward surgical management. This presentation summarizes systematically the main groups of surgical complications of IBD and its treatment, with real-life examples and some insight in novel or promising approaches.
