Risk management: top tips to stay out of trouble

Streams: Hot Topics , Sponsored Session
In the context of ”multiple jeopardy”, we’ll look at how a single adverse incident can evolve for a clinician.
An overview of “recurring themes” that we see at the MDU -  the common issues in every day clinical practice which can often give rise to medico-legal difficulties, as well as advice on potential strategies to avoid these, or at least minimise their occurrence.
Learning outcomes:
1. An awareness of how a single incident can lead to multiple investigations and the need for good initial handling.
2. An ability to identify and avoid common pitfalls in every day practice, which may lead to medico-legal difficulties.
3. The knowledge of how to optimise patient care while protecting one’s own professional position.
4. Dealing with an adverse incident.
