Acute kidney injury in critical care

Streams: Critical Care
In this presentation will review the diagnostic criteria, epidemiology, aetiologies clinical association, management and outcomes of acute kidney injury complicating critical illness. There will be a specific overview of the following topics:
1) Supportive management and specific interventions
2) Indications for renal replacement therapy
3) Outcomes after AKI and recommendations for follow-up

Learning outcomes:
  1. Understand common causes of AKI in the critically ill
  2. Be able to describe current AKI directed treatments and their indications
  3. Appreciate the outcomes after AKI and need for follow-up
